Can OM-1 Mark II Replace Your GND Filters? High Res Shot Test

In this post, I take the OM System OM-1 Mark II out to a waterfall scene to see how well its computational features handle real-world landscape photography. The main focus is on two tools: Live GND, which helps balance bright skies against darker foregrounds, and High Res Shot, which creates much larger files for added detail and cropping flexibility.

I walk through how the GND feature can help rescue scenes with blown-out highlights, especially when the light is too bright for a normal exposure. I also explain how High Res Shot produces very large images that are ideal for landscapes, but cannot be used at the same time as Live GND, which means you have to choose the tool that fits the shot.

The video also compares in-camera results with later edits in DxO, showing that while the OM-1 Mark II’s built-in processing is powerful, there is still room to refine the image afterward. I share some practical field notes on using filters, tripods, lens choice, and exposure judgment, along with why I still think these features are worth having for landscape work.
